Buddy Nestor / Hyaena Gallery / July 1st – 15th

Buddy Nestor‘s show “Biting Rainbows in Limbo” at Hyaena Gallery continues his highly unique, on-going portrait series of women “on the verge.” The verge of what remains open to interpretation.

Mia Mäkilä, 2011

Shaunna Peterson, 2011

I have been a long time fan of Nestor’s work and I have featured him before. Worth noting, he often paints women who are either fellow artists or curators. For this show, a few of the power-house women who’s souls Nestor has captured include Suzzan Blac, Kristen FerrellHeather GargonBree HranekMia Mäkilä, and Shaunna Peterson.

Stacey Ransom, 2011

Needless to say, it is a great honor to be included as one of the subjects in his show. My fingers are crossed the painting of me (above) will sell! I relish the thought that my likeness will foebodingly stare upon someone’s unfolding destiny (at least for as long as their family members will allow it).
